Judith Lindau is 24 years old and has been a team assistant in order processing at BBG since completing her training as a clerk for office communication in 2009. She enjoys her work and she'd like to further herself careerwise at the company. That's why she's enrolled in the "Business Management" work-study bachelor programme at the Business School Memmingen (BS).
Her employer is supporting her, accompanying her as a partner with her continued academic progress. She and her colleague Nikolas Schulz have decided upon a course of studies at the BS because the special advanced education programme allows them to combine career and university. The Business School Memmingen is part of the Steinbeis Hochschule Berlin, the largest privately and publicly recognised institute of higher education in Germany, which views itself as a "professional provider of transfer and application-oriented degrees of studies".
The two professional students especially appreciate the great practical relevance of their degree programmes. Judith Lindau, who has been enrolled since 2009, also already knows the subject of her bachelor's thesis. She will address the issue of creating and introducing a balanced scorecard, using the concrete example of her employer, who will thus benefit from her scientific work. The 26-year-old Nikolas Schulz, who is already an industrial clerk and certified business data processing specialist, was referred to BBG by the business school. The company offered him a position as an IT specialist, while at the same time he is studying "Business Informatics" at the BS. Because in order to enrol, the candidate has to already be employed and have a partner company providing him with professional support.
The authorised representative, Martina Barton, the in-house company contact person for Lindau and Schulz, gives it her all to support her two students. She knows that the support she provides is also an asset to her own company and, in addition, makes it attractive as an employer: "Besides an interesting workplace—with a maximum international sphere of influence—many committed career starters nowadays look for perspectives for further professional development when deciding on an employer.
BBG is deeply committed to the enhancement of professional training and advanced training. Currently, the company is training eight career starters in modern industrial careers. In addition, BBG supports its employees with their individual further career development through appropriate qualification measures from day seminars to degrees of study. Martina Barton would be delighted if in the future a BBG employee were to be inspired by "Business & Engineering", the third course of studies at the Business School. On the other hand, the company is also of interest to students who aren't from the company: It offers support with practice-relevant research papers and theses, whereby students are able to implement projects, from the planning phase to realisation.
