"TopTherm 90": the world's first polyurethane standard window On the occasion of the Glasstec 2008 trade fair, BBG presented "TopTherm 90", the first standard window with a profile core and frame made of polyurethane (PU), which met with great interest on the part of the specialist audience. It is a high-performance heat-insulating window, which is particularly slender on account of its width of 90 mm and is suitable for use in ultra-low-energy houses. We developed "TopTherm90" in cooperation with partners from the window industry within the framework of the “Hochwärmedämmende Fenster- und Fassadensysteme (HWFF, Highly-Insulating Windows and Facade Systems)” research project. BBG was the project leader. The project resulted in the development of window versions with triple glazing and vacuum thermopanes. Test series proved that "TopTherm90" is on a par with PVC windows from a static point of view and superior in terms of heat insulation. Production plan for series production We brought in our extensive expertise in the design of components and manufactured the tools required for producing the prototypes. We produced the frame profile prototypes which were used to complete all test series required successfully in our own pilot lab. Moreover, we designed the first series-production plant for polyurethane window profiles. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to know more about the first standard window with a profile core and a frame made of polyurethane (PU) or would like to be supported in turning your ideas into a polyurethane product.
